Well Hello Easter Skunk. We Weren’t Expecting You.

Like most families this Easter we were looking forward to the arrival of the Easter Bunny – and he did not disappoint. But it was really the unexpected appearance of Easter Skunk that stole the show on Easter Sunday.

The Pup was the first to notice Easter Skunk in our midst just as we were settling down for a late afternoon, post-Easter brunch, snack and snuggle. While we were enjoying the living room the Pup bounded outside to greet our new friend.

Now, we are all for the Equal Treatment of Holiday Animals so the Pup greeted Easter Skunk very kindly and exuberantly. Easter Skunk was a bit surprised by the intensity of the welcome (we think) and returned the favor the only way he knew how – with the gift of scent. Skunk Scent. Wasn’t that nice of Easter Skunk?

Only problem is we’re not entirely sure that non-Skunks can really, fully appreciate Skunk Scent. And the Pup was really not expecting it IN THE FACE at that precise moment.

And so the Pup got a little overwhelmed and ran back into the house to figure out what to do in this new social situation. It turns out that this was the perfect way for the Pup to share his gift with everyone and every room! Nice work Pup.

And holy moley Skunk Scent is the gift that just keeps on giving – let me tell you.

Unfortunately Easter Skunk was a bit offended by the Pup’s abrupt rejection of his gift (we think) and departed almost as soon as he had arrived.

It was a shame really since the party was just getting started with lots of jumping around and furniture moving and spraying of unidentified substances willy nilly.

The Pup was a bit sad that Easter Skunk left so soon (and that the Party turned into an excuse for quite so MANY baths) but never fear – we will be enjoying the gifts of Easter Skunk for many weeks to come it seems.

Next year maybe we should keep the party small and keep the invite list for Easter Bunnies only. You know – just so that we don’t inadvertently offend Easter Skunk again.

Hilarious! Nice way to make a stinky situation sound like a scene from a sit-com. I hope it doesn’t linger for long.
P.S. Rilz kept saying “Nah-na! Nah-na!” this morning. He knew it was Monday.

Well if you don’t laugh… :) Sippy is missing Rilz like crazy. Every morning she wants to go see him.

well apart from being ridiculously stinky (still) it was kind of funny – when you look back on it of course. :)

I so feel your pain my friend. I’m so, so, sorry you were visited by the Easter skunk. Our dog got sprayed by a skunk twice in two months last fall and I thought I was going to lose my mind. The first time it was 4 in the morning and I let him out to pee and he came back in and rubbed it all over our bed and carpets before we were awake enough to realize what had happened. The second time I wrote this post: http://simplysahm.blogspot.com/2011/11/i-wish-i-smelled-like-stinky-feet.html. I thought you might appreciate it. Good luck getting rid of the smell. It will eventually fade, I promise : )

Haha. I’m glad I’m not the only one! I didn’t realize quite HOW MUCH I smelled like skunk until after I got home from the grocery store to buy all the de-skunking supplies. I’m sure everyone in that store totally loved me!
